Take Nothing For The Journey is a record of three months spent living in a tent in different parts of Ireland, all places that held special significance for Donagh O'Shea. After 10 busy years working in a retreat centre, he needed to get away from maps of the spiritual journey, for maps can never be substitutes for the real journey, the journey to God.
The themes that emerged for him during those three months clustered around two basic realities - time and place. These themes weave themselves in and out of the story, like the strands of a rope.
We cannot disown time and place, since God has leaped into time and place in the Inacrnation. These are the structure of our reality. The spiritual journey is not a timeless search in abstract space, but a journey into what is most intimate in our own story and closest to home.
