YOUCAT is an abbreviation of Youth Catechism. It is a catechism thought fundamentally for young people, with an appropriate language, with many complementary images and texts, and its basic structure is similar to that of the Compendium of the Catechism of the Catholic Church.

t was examined by the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith and enjoys the support of the Congregation for the Clergy and the Pontifical Council for the Promotion of the New Evangelization. YOUCAT is the official Young Catechism of the World Youth Days of Madrid. Pope Benedict XVI contributed the preface in which he strongly recommends the reading of the Catechism and this Portuguese version also has a postface by Cardinal-Patriarch José Policarpo.
